Soto ayam, an Indonesian version of chicken soup, is a clear herbal broth brightened by fresh turmeric and herbs, with rice noodles buried in the bowl. It is served with a boiled egg, fried shallots, celery leaves and herbs, and is hearty enough for a meal.

The Perfect Choice

Lontong Sayur is an Indonesian dish made of compressed rice cake in the form of a cylinder wrapped inside a banana leaf pairing with thick peanut sauces and curries. It serves as the base for this savory morning favorite, a coconut-milk curry made with young papaya, soy-braised tofu and hard-boiled eggs.

Nasi campur (Indonesian for 'mixed rice'), also known as nasi rames, refers to an Indonesian dish of a scoop of nasi putih (white rice) accompanied by small portions of a number of other dishes, which includes rendang, vegetables, peanuts, eggs, and fried-shrimp krupuk.

Beef Rendang is a flavorful West Sumatran dry curry that's made with beef, that's cooked together with a spice paste and coconut milk until fork-tender. It's then fried together with the remaining braising liquid until the liquid caramelizes around the beef, coating it with an insane amount of flavor.
